June Artist of the Month
Luta was born in the town of Calliaqua to Sydney and Cynthia Mc Intosh, Christened with the name Rondy Mc Intosh (I will not mention my middle name for SECURITY reasons). The name LUTA came as a result of me taking part in a Church concert around the age of 9 where I was the only male amongst several females, at the end of the concert the Preacher (Father Paynter) lifted me up and told the congregation that I was the King amongst the Queens, my friends started calling me “Martin Luther King”, after a while they shed the Martin and King and the name LUTA stuck with me since then.
My musical career started at Primary school where I sang(Dub) at school concerts and any open air opportunity I got, I was also a finalist in the first ever Dub/Reggae competition held in St. Vincent. Dub at that time was my first love for music and admired artist such as Lieutenant Stitchie, Ninja Man, Tiger, Dutty Cup, Shabba, to name a few. I was approached in 1994 to join the band SIGNAL as a vocalist to sing Dub/Reggae, my first soca track was a song name “Hold Him” featuring Davrell Douglas. I started my solo career in 2004 with my first solo album entitled “Busy Tone”, the title track”Busy Tone” gained much attention and airplay everywhere Soca is played.
I am now a member of the “Vincy Soca Dans” musical family with members such as Fireman Hooper, DJ Taurus, Tabia and newly added Jamesy-P. I was a finalist in the 2008 TnT soca monarch alongside Tony Prescott with the hit song “HEY”. I am now crowned as “D Crowd Motivator” by my many fans, this is mainly due to my very charismatic and energetic performances Many thanks to my Friends, Fans and Family for their continued support and a special thanks to my critics, you help me to grow musically.
